Etain Ltd Win Translink Award
September 11, 2017

Etain have been awarded as part of Translink’s #GetOnBoardNI Corporate Challenge. As one of four winners announced, we are delighted to accept the award as part of our continued commitment to supporting public transport.

As one of more than 60 companies in Northern Ireland who took part in Translink’s #GetOnBoardNI Corporate Challenge during Bus + Train Week 2017 that ran earlier in the year, Etain have taken the accolade for Best Small Organisation.

The Corporate Challenge asked organisations to broadly champion public transport, including the tracking of journeys by train and bus, instead of car. The competition, pioneered by Translink, engaged the corporate community in supporting public transport by encouraging team members to try the bus or train for their daily commute.

As part of the second annual Bus + Train Week, the initiative highlighted the vital role public transport has to play in the daily successes and growth of the Northern Ireland economy, social inclusion, energy efficiency and ‘low carbon’ mobility of the region.

Lynda Shannon, Communications Manager, Translink said:

We were delighted to see a wide range of industries in Northern Ireland ‘get on-board’ the Corporate Challenge during Bus + Train Week 2017. We saw a number of creative ideas to encourage employees to try public transport, such as how our overall winner closed their carpark for a day and raised money for charity.

This year we saw 376,000 additional passenger journeys on public transport during Bus + Train Week and the business community played an integral part in this. The week included a Business Breakfast, jointly hosted with the Institution of Civil Engineers, which saw Northern Ireland’s top business leaders come together to discuss public transport. Business industry bodies including the NI Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Directors also called on businesses to back the initiative.

I would like to thank all of the organisations that took part in the Corporate Challenge during Bus + Train Week 2017. We can’t wait to see who wins next year’s competition!

Among good company, other winners included Edwards & Co Solicitors who were awarded as ‘Grand Champions’, Barclays Bank Plc for ‘Best Large Organisation’ and Northern Ireland Co-Ownership Housing Association for ‘Public Sector Champion’. Congratulations to all involved!
